Not dissimilar to a modern love story, (platonic) queer duo, the Non-Renewed was born on the apps and nurtured through the early pandemic days. After a heartbreak, a lost job and a shutdown, Meghan Mallon and Mellik Gorton, singer-songwriters in their own right, found these things were all they needed to reinvigorate their already strong desire to collaborate with others. Now going on three years, the pair blends guitar forward progressions with warm raspy harmonies. Their clever hooks have been known to linger long after the song has ended.
